Death and JW's
by Wordly Andre inin regards to other posts about people dropping dead during meeting and assemblies, it has been my belief that jw's have a pretty weird way of dealing with death.
i'm not sure if its just my family or what but none of my brothers or sisters ever go to visit my dad's grave.
i know this for sure, because no one in my family burried him, i took his ashes and placed him in a cemetery, none of my jw brothers or sister ever asked where is dad located, and by that time my mom was already married to another jw.

well yeah peace but after all he was still my dad, I don't blame him for all the JW crap, I blame the org for doing that to him.

Bad Associations spoil useful habits. Are the JWs right? Scripturally?
by Open mind init has been interesting for me to learn the various ways that the jws twist the scriptures to fit their own dogma.
(of course jws aren't alone in that, but that's another topic.
) two quick examples of jws not following or going beyond the bible are blood and birthdays.

Seems like they don't grieve the dead, and not just the case of my dad but both of my grandpa's and a aunt who all died with in years of my dad. Seems that they are forgotten, and the JW's say we will see them in paradise, but people should still try and deal with the loss and not just act soo cold. I've posted here before about my relationship with my dad before he died and how his last words to me were that he could never forgive me for turning my back on jehovah, and that I was a dissappointment to him and he will never forgive me for the way I live my life. I still bring him flowers 4 times a year, no one in my family knows that I do this, it's just between him and me, well now you guys.

Private information told to JW elders should not at any time hold up to clergy/parishonier privacy, due to the fact that if you go to the elder and confess your sins, even though they might try to cover it up they might still DF you or some other method of punishment, and what do the elders do? they announce to the congergation that Brother so and so is stepping down as an elder, or has lost some title or rights in the hall. There is no expectation of privacy, not when it's reported to the higher ups in NY and announced to the congergation. As for say a catholic, if I were to go to a priest and confess something like I robbed a bank, the priest would plead with me to surrender to the police, and any pennance that is given to me is just between the priest and myself, he will not go on stage and say I am bad association for all bank tellers!

FIRST AID at the DCs
by tresdecu inthe thread about the old woman who died at the assembly got me thinking about how first aid is run at the conventions.
for many years i worked as an attendant, we were always instructed that, if there is a medical emergency to contact first aid and not to call an ambulance directly from the location.
in the age of cell phones it made much more sense to me to call 911 right away (for serious emergencies) , if it's a stroke or heart attack time is critical.

their first aid is more like Jim Jone's Kool aid

Sister dies (?) at DC
by DoomVoyager inno, this is not a joke.
having actually managed to survive through the entire 3 grueling days of the dc after attending the friday session today (hit sat and sun last weekend) i was initially going to make a criticism of some of the parts & points at the dc.
however, something that i witnessed today changed my mind.

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't there some kind of law about moving a dead body? 911 should have been called and let them move her. I know it must have been a horrible thing to witness but if she was still breathing or only just slightly being put in a wheel chair is not the best answer. If that was my grandmother or someone in my family I would have been pissed off at the way that was handled.

Found an old picture of me
by Wordly Andre inas many of you know i left the jw's back when i was 15, i found an old picture of me during that time so funny to look back, i thought i'd share with you what a little apostate looks like he he he.
.
i wonder why i was labled bad association for the youth?

Wordly Andre
yes they did, I kept my room very empty after a while, I remember I knew my parents were going through my stuff so I would get clippings of weird stuff just to throw them off and keep them in a little box. I would often find my music had some how vanished. A few months after this picture things got really bad, my dad would beat the love of jehovah on my face, but I didn't give in. I remember one day I came home with a necklace that a friend (girl) had made me and my dad ripped it off my neck with one hand and then back handed me with the other. During Memorial and ASSembLIES were the worst, I guess it was ok not to go to meetings but I was suppose to go to those, I never gave in!
